V-Twin Vision Quest
The first 500 some miles were full of awe for nature & the joy of speed. Yet when shadows rose on Utah landscape, the familiar tinges of loneliness gently corroded the perfect backdrop. Finally, sitting at the mere viewpoint of a natural rock arch around which happy couples and groups who'd taken to hiking fully there frolicked, my overrevving thoughts abruptly stalled as I looked up and saw a sign:
"VIEWPOINT. END OF TRAIL."
Breathing slow & deep, my head panned, witnessing the richness of colours and light. I was at the precipice of a new life, the trail of the old one over. No longer is there anything to prove, no longer is the past a shameful burden. Stand here, at the end of that trail, and behold what, now, is possible. It was things novel and inconceivable a few minutes ago.
My plans changed, I learned one more thing about dealing with reality instead of the bullshit that's in my head. I remembered who I loved and told them. I gave up on what couldn't be changed, and gave both barrels to what could. Serenity abounded.
I cruised on to one of the happiest, most warm weekends of my life. A wedding of dear friends, a gathering of a community that reminded me just how grand community is. A weekend that reminded me I'm human, and that's what Analog Pleasure is all about.
Did I mention I caught the garter?
